Ashten DOESN'T Like It!

Ashten DOESN'T Like It!

-----

Ashten is turning 6 Months tomorrow and therefore we decided it may be time to break down and try some cereal...So that is what we did in anticipation that Ashten would probably really enjoy the extra milk and calories as Preston did....Ashten however has not!
"Please Mommy and Daddy...no more"
"yuck"
"Did you not HEAR me!"

We continue to try some cereal or banana on a daily basis...but thus far the situation has not improved much...(if at all...) We go to the Doctor for his 6 month check up in a few weeks, so hopefully things will be going better by then....

Randomness

Randomness
------

Things have been a little chaotic in our household as the winter "bug" has been floating around our house for the past month or so...so therefore we have a lot of odds and ends to update everyone on...Hopefully the bug is gone, but you never know....it seems to infect one of us every few days...
----

Although Ashten is almost 6 months, he had his 4 month check up a few weeks ago (2/17/09) his stats are:

12lbs 5 oz (20% for weight)
25 3/4 (75% for head)
17 1/2 inches (90% for length)
Pretty much what you would expect...long and lean....the Dr gave him the BIG a-okay and said that after our next visit we can talk about starting cereal unless we see reason to start sooner...she preferred we wait...and with that we are most likely going to wait a little longer...(We did start Preston at 5 months) Ashten is sleeping well at night (waking only due to loss of pacifier) and is not all that fussy except around bedtime (typical).
Ashten is working on sitting up but definetely not there yet...he topples quite easily...He is not crawling but moves around fairly well by what we like to call a "scoot". He is making lots of sounds now in addition to the general cooing and loves nothing more than to get the attention of his brother (or anyone) to play with him and make him laugh. He can now hold his own bottle, finds his pacifier and puts it back in and loves the finding of his feet. He certainly has his moments but is overall a pretty happy baby and fun to be around..
------
Preston may be becoming the funniest person that I have ever met...he cracks me up on a daily basis by the things that he does...for instance...(see pic below). I catch Preston in this position one morning and as I inquire about what he is doing...He quite frankly told me he was getting milk for his baby...when asked if it was working out for him...he looked at the pump (and for the milk) and told me it wasn't....
Preston is now 2 1/2 years old and is acting like a big boy more and more...He utilizes the toilet by himself (we often have to remind of the handwashing, flushing, putting the clothes back on, etc) but he does do it by himself and is even waking at night to go by himself...although he does yell for assistance in getting back into bed. He is singing his "ABC's" now, knows most all if not all his capital Letters, has a good handle on colors, shapes --although on some days prefers not to get it right...and is counting objects up to 10. He loves to run and play with friends although he may have inherited mommy's running abilities as he is actually quite slow...and enjoys many outside the house activities like storytime, "jumpy"places, chuckee cheese, and such..
---
A few weeks ago we had a late Valentines Day Party with our BFSG friends....Here is Ashten and his first girlfriend born only a few days after him...Let me remind you of the early picture of these two and Ashten was a giant next to her...she was almost 3 lbs lighter..but has obviously caught up quite quickly!
and a picture of almost the whole gang..Zoey, Mallory, Chloe, Ethan, Lucy, Preston and Ashten...missing are Zach, Luke, Oliver and his new brother Milo! Yes, we are up to 11 now!
We had a few gorgeous days here lately and is making us only think of Spring and Summer even more...We tried to play outside as much as the "bug" would allow us too...hopefully the nice weather will be here to stay soon!

RollerDerby King

RollerDerby King

-----

A few weeks ago, Preston got to try out a new sport....Rollerskating...and boy was he a PRO! It is a really cool toddler program offered by a neighbor that owns the local rollerskating rink...they tighten up the kids wheels and mommy's are allowed out on the rink to assist (without skates...of course)...It brought me back to the old days when I used to frequent our own towns rollerskating rink...I was quite tempted to lace up some skates myself..but came to the realization that taking care of two children with a broken ankle/foot/leg...would not be an easy task...therefore I quickly reconsidered...
They even had the LIMBO....I so wish I knew how to upload video because he actually did the limbo by himself...such a proud mommy...my son the roller derby man...
and what toddler time is not complete without snacks...yes, they sat right on the rink for some animal crackers and water...
aligned with his friends and their mommies...
and yes, there were numerous falls...none of which required more than a mere kiss from mommy to make it better...
Preston also made quite an impact on a new friend...aren't they too cute!
